The Vermont Institute on Health and Wellness provides teens from New England, New York, New Jersey, and across the country with challenging and inspiring summer leadership programs.  The summer program is held at the beautiful Common Ground Center in Starksboro,Vermont.  Nestled in a valley with views of the mountains, miles of hiking trails, a pond for swimming, and cutting edge energy efficient buildings, the Common Ground Center is the perfect place for students to not only explore the diverse careers available to them within the health and wellness field, but to challenge themselves to explore their own health and wellness.

Students learn from experts in a range of health and wellness related fields from traditional medical doctors to herbalists, Buddist monks, and nutritionists.  With a 2:1 student to faculty/staff ratio, students at VIHW have daily opportunities to learn from teachers both in the classroom and 1:1 during their free time.

While at VIHW, students put away their cell-phones, computers, and video games.  They rise early, eat a local, organic diet, and learn how to integrate exercise into their day.  Each day includes multiple workshop sessions from staff and visiting presenters.  Students get ample free and creative time to explore the grounds, interact with teachers, and develop their own health and wellness leadership projects.  Together, the students, staff, and faculty create a unique learning community where students can develop their leadership skills in safe and supportive environment.  VIHW is an individual and communal journey to becoming your best self.

Our regular admission deadline is May 15.  After that date, we accept applications on a rolling admission basis. Our program can fill up fast and we high recommend early application as space is competitive and limited.  Due to the occasional last minute cancellation, we may have openings in our program near the start date.
